For those of you that bought your hotchkis sway bars recently, how much did you guys pay for it? I am on the edge of getting it.

Also, I thought the hotchkis sway bars are not adjustable for the front, only the rear is adjustable? Can someone chime in?

I don't mind sharing; I purchased mine in July as part of a group-buy from Concept-Z Performance. I have the AWD sways for a coupe and paid 365. I can't remember if the body style matters for swaybars, though I tend to think it wouldn't, so that shouldn't affect your price. I could be wrong though.

Both the front and rear of the Hotchkis sways are adjustable. The front has 3 settings, the rear has 2 (at least, that's the AWD coupe setup).

Sways, in my opinion, are a very worthwhile upgrade for the money; you'll notice a difference in cornering right away. If you're on the edge, hopefully this will put you over.

Allentown, thanks for the information.

I found out that RWD is only adjustable in the rear and AWD has both adjustable.

Correct, mine just arrived and I confirmed it's 2 front, 3 rear.

I've asked Hotchkis to tell me how much stiffer than stock each setting is, but they haven't replied yet. I'll post if I get anything.

they've got numbers, but it's for RWD Hotchkis sways:

Front Sway Bar 35mm (Ø1-3/8") Hollow
+230% Stiffer than Stock G37
+205% Stiffer than stock G37S
+230% Stiffer than stock G37S

the front is the same thickness, but not adjustable for RWD

Rear Sway Bar 28.5mm (Ø1.125") Hollow 3 Way Adjustable
+130, 185, 260% Stiffer than Stock G37,
+15, 40, 75% Stiffer than stock G37S
+60, 100, 155% Stiffer than stock G35S

rear seems to be the same

Those are the settings I'm leaning towards.
  • What were your impressions when you first put them in?
  • How's the handling at the edge? Does it trend towards understeer, oversteer or neutral?

IMO - my impressions were significant improvments on an already great handling car - very balanced in the corners (neutral re: over/under steer). It doesn't change the dynamics of the ride, just very balanced on the corners. The best way to notice is before and after daily commutes - you know the ramps/turns etc - that's how you can do a full comparision. Keep in mind you can always go stiffer or softer (that's what she said )

Wow!!

I just put these sway bars in and WOW!! What a difference! This car is totally transformed. It corners perfectly flat, it feels more confident, more composed and far more sure footed than before. I'd even say it feels lighter; almost "nimble" and I don't htink the ride has suffered at all. I love this mod!!!

For the record, I used the stiffer setting on the front and the middle setting on the rear. I'd have used the stiffest setting on the rear too, but I was afraid of pushing the envelope too far and making the car a bit oversteer-happy.

I'll post back here again as my driving impressions mature. For now I've got less than 15 miles on the new sway bars. Looking forward to the learning curve!

That's great to hear! I think I'm going to switch to the stiffest setting in the front. There is still a little understeer than I expected. Have fun!

I have stiffest in front and middle in the rear and i notice in rain my rear starts to slide out. It might have to do with my tires.

I went ahead and changed my front to the stiffest setting (rear on middle). Now the G handles far better than stock. The last bit of roll the front had on the first hole setting is virtually eliminated! The one trade off as many have mentioned is the ride quality. I can feel every imperfection in the roads. Though the benefits of the tighter suspension outweigh the slight decrease in ride quality, stiffer settings aren't for everyone.
