This past week I installed the GT Spec Strut Tower Brace on my G37x after hours of deliberation over what my first upgrade would be. There are two reasons why i went with the strut brace. First, most of the vehicle frames flex and twist when accelerating and turning. The brace helps eliminate this effect, resulting in smoother entry and exit from turns. Secondly was the price that Fred Beans Parts gave me on the brace. I'd recommend this part to any G owner, as it combined with stiffer sway bars (Hotchkis set coming soon) will significantly improve the handling of your ride. I cant speak for the non-AWD trans, but the pros outweigh the cons on this one for X owners. (Est. 15-20 min install time)
Maybe with a FWD vehicle it may help but I didn't notice much difference with mine. I am hoping the Hotchkis will make an impression.
agree, ive had both the GTspec and circuit sports bars. they really should be the very last thing you do to stiffen the car. Hotchkis make the biggest difference followed by gtspec rear under braces.
True the strut brace doesn't have the largest impact on handling, but it has a noticeable one none the less. Sure sway bars have a larger impact on handling as they reduce body roll, but frame stability is just as important when improving handling.
I agree with Bat and rks, i had the car back-to-back on the track with and without the strut bar and you really don't notice much of a difference. They do look good, and in conjunction with every other brace, do have a compound effect.
Try the rest of the GT-Spec braces, the 6-pt made the most noticeable difference for me.
