Want to install Tanabe lowering springs but...

need some advice. i have carpel tunnel, the steering on the G is already a bit stiff for me and bothers my wrist, however the wheel gap is killing me. my concern with lowering it is that i dont want the steering to feel any stiffer when i am turning the steering wheel. my wrist are very sensitive, i had 245 in front and had to go back to 225 in front bcz it was killn my wrist (just so you get an idea of how sensative my wrist are). if i install Tanabe lowering springs , will it make the turning/steering noticeably stiff? thanks for any help/suggestions

i would think it would make things a little stiffer, but this only comes with my experience with coilovers, not those specific springs

I have to be honest...if your carpel is that bad, my feeling is that you are driving the wrong car. Go get something that has full power steering and drives like a dream. The G, although not a full performance car, is meant to be a bit stiff by nature. Wouldn't it make sense for you to get something that is better for your health?

That being said, I didn't notice any huge changes in my resistance to steering when I lowered my G on Eibach. But...I also don't have any sensitivity to that.

imo, you should just leave the car as is. i've never had experience with the tanabe springs, but with any lowering springs, the ride and steering will stiffen up a bit since that is what springs are intended to do.

I had them. As I recall they made the car require just a little more steering effort, as will any lowering spring. It's not something drastic or that I even thought about at all, but considering your carpal tunnel syndrome I think you probably would. If even slightly stiffer steering will negatively affect you, I'd pass and stay with OEM suspension. You already mentioned that the wider tires gave you a problem. Wider tires increased steering effort more than lowering. You might consider even narrower tires than stock (205/225) if they'll work with your wheels. The narrower width and taller sidewall might make steering effort easier to help you out.

I have the Tenabe NF210 springs and the steering did not feel any stiffer after lowering. The Tenabes do not lower the front end as much as the Eibachs but, the spring ratio is stiffer on the Tenabes.

Dunno for sure. I think it would, but I cant confirm that. Check on Tire Rack.

Instead of driving gloves, why not wear those wrist guards while driving? I'm not kidding, I have to put them on at work when I have to use a drill. About 30 bucks at walgreens, they work on both left and right hand.....

thanks for the suggestion, but my problem is is more complicated then just my wrist, ive been dealing with a weakness in both my forearms for years which leaves my arms soar, strained and makes me feel like im carrying a ton of weights on my arms. i have wrist pain too. i have all sorts of braces/guards but i stopped wearing them because i became too dependent on them.

a simple wrist brace (not the full blown ones with plastic/metal bars) that offer more support should help. I wear one every now and then when my wrist gets sore and it helps out a great deal.

If you want to lower the car and have a softer ride, why not to go to coilovers with adjustable damping?
