Rear break smell

OK, Still new to the site and I have searched and couldnt find this posted anywhere else so if i missed it somehow please let me know.

OK....here is the deal:
We have a 2010 G37 sedan. We now have about 2600 miles on it and within the last week or so I have noticed a very strong "hot glue" smell that is coming from the rear wheel area....im assuming the brakes. Anyone now if that is normal in a break in period.....only after its been drivin do you smell it. I have checked the parking break and its not engaged at all. driving habbits are not harsh. just everyday driving.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nepsa

Not normal. You may have a seized brake caliper. Take it in to get it looked at.

Not familiar with breaks smelling. I take my break in the break room here at work and it smells fine. You should pick a new location to take your breaks.

If it's fairly new there could be some odor from the back. You could see if your car rolls on slight incline or decline to see if it is a seized brake.

OK....thanks everyone for the feedback (except for Kidcane who apparently has too much time on his hands if he can post a pointless, meaningless, not to mention smart *** comment on a simple grammar mistake.)

I need to get the new transmission update anyways so ill get it checked out...

Again thanks everyone.

This is kind of tricky to do due to calipers getting pretty hot after a period of normal braking, but you might drive a short distance and brake a few times, then get out and get a feel for the temp of all your calipers with your hand. Again, be careful and very quick with your touch at first. If one is much hotter than the others (or your fingers sizzle and fry ), you probably have an issue.

rear calipers don't do much of the braking, maybe 20 percent, if that. so, if you have overheating and burning smell from the rear, there is probably something wrong.

Have you checked the undercarriage of your car to see if anything is stuck on the exhaust??? I had the hot glue smell before. I took a look under the car and found a plastic grocery bag was melted onto the exhaust. If you parked your car and a bag happen to blow under the car while the exhaust was still hot the bag might have stuck to the hot exhaust and is just melting as it gets hot.
