Since there are several options for lowering a sedan, what are the best? Coil overs or just springs? Already stiffened the ride with Stillen sway bars and they made a big difference. Also interested to know what 19's or 20's will do to the ride.

 

invest in coils. had springs, eibach pro-kit and H&R Sport.

this car allows the driver to be so attached to it that you feel every little thing in the road, therefor, springs alone will cause to feel wobbly and loose over time.

I've had coils on my car for about 3 weeks now and it feels amazing! car is stiff when it counts yet pleasant on the daily roads.

I have JIC Magic Coils BTW.

 

^ i don't understand what that means. what do you mean by "feel wobbly and loose over time"...? you said that "you feel every little thing in the road." you mean down the line, your struts will wear out and cause problems...?

 

I'm starting out with springs and stiffened my ride with Hotchkis. Eventually, I plan to change over to coils when I decide on what 20's to go with. Probably will do this sometime in the 2011 mid-Spring. People here will tell you everything, just listen and find out what works best for what you are going for.

I would say go with some Coilovers, I got my BC's for 1000.00 delivered, the ride is firm but never bouncy and I have them set dead even...since my coils have settled i will adjust the stiffness to push a litter harder. I'm also having my sway bars installed, with my wheels, so it will be interesting to see the difference in the ride going from 18 to 20, making the coils stiffer, and the new sway bars.

 

Sorry, I missed this... IDK, I think I may go with Vossen's... or well have my eye on these Petrol's(which are a fraction of the costs), too.

 

Tanabe Sustec Coilovers if you're trying to keep it semi civil for the street.

 

go with coils they will be your best investment. BC has them for $1000 shipped so its not that expensive either

Let me know what 20's you plan to go with. I am heading in that direction also. I am trying to understand the full impact of the coils since it's just not as simple as just installing them and standing back going "wow!" The camber and toe adjustments and upper arm brackets. Then the tire sizes themselves on the 2's. So many variables and everyone has their preferences. I just have to figure out what mine are I guess.

 

i went w/ springs b/c i don't track my car. coils definitely are well worth it b/c of all the adjustments you can make -- stiffer, softer, handling, etc... cost is a big factor

 

Thanks for the direction and suggestions. I will definitely be going with coilovers instead of springs. I had lowered with springs on my last car and definitely felt shortchanged with the handling performance. One of the main reasons I purchased the G37S is the excellent handling. I don't want to screw that up.

I agree with Alex "this car allows the driver to be so attached to it that you feel every little thing in the road." I want to keep as much of that as possible, but lower the center of gravity on the car for even more aggressive handling.

I'll dig into narrowing down which coilover to go with and when purchased and installed will definitely post pics.

 

Kenny, if cost wasn't a factor would you still have gone with springs?

What are the specs on wheels and tires? Did you need to make any other adjustments to the setup - spacers, lugs, camber adjustments, etc?

 

i'm looking for some springs to go along with some 19's by 9.5. which spring is a good to get?
