Akebono owners-brake fluid change yet?
#31
RBF600 (and RBF660) are for racing and ultra-high performance use. DOT5.1 fluid has a high boiling point, but not quite as high. Plus, 5.1 has a viscosity particularly suited for ABS systems for faster response. Essentially, if you are on the street and might do HPDE events, 5.1 would be a great choice. Serious track guys will need to move to the 600 or 660.
Motul is very good, but there are a couple of others also worth considering.

Great thread and good info. Very informative ChrisB! I also would like to know what types of fluids I can get off the shelf. I would be just using it for street use. You mentioned Castrol in a previous post. Anything else?

I would choose between Motul DOT 5.1 (currently using) and Castrol (don't remember the model, but it has a little bit higher boiling point than Motul)
I wouldn't use RBF600 or 660, as they have to be changed every 6 months (RBF600) or 3 months (RBF660).
