CKS SUSPENSION True coilovers for my G, TRIED IT, LIKE IT SO FAR
A Friend of mine requested for us to try and test a new set of true coilovers from CKS SUSPENSION. We were invited to a track day on August 31st at Streets of Willow so i said why not.
CKS – Corner Konnection Systems – knows the importance of performance suspension and the vital role it plays in improving the performance of a vehicle’s handling and drivability. We understand the need for quality parts and performance; hence, our promise to manufacture coilovers using only the highest quality material available. Materials such as 6061 T6 aluminum would be used for our upper mounts, lower mounts and spring perches while we rely on SAE 9254 springs and SCM440 hardened piston rods as well. The bottom line of this technical talk is the fact that CKS is a strong, safe and reliable solution for all your suspension needs.
CKS offers a wide variety of coilover suspension set ups to accommodate the needs of any automotive enthusiast. Regardless of make, model and end goal, CKS has your suspension solution. We pride ourselves in offering a track-tested, efficient, safe, and reliable coilover to help with your specific car build. With multiple stages of performance to choose from, not only do we appeal to the road racing/tracking enthusiast, but to a wide range of aftermarket automotive aficionados. The drivability and comfort of your daily commute and the aesthetic demands of car show participants have all been considered and we are confident that CKS has the right coilover for you.
12 way dampening adjustability, rear setup as true coilover. 12kg spring rate on the front and 10kg spring rate on the rear
They are offering 3 different setups, STREET, STREET/TRACK, FULL RACE
I know a lot of you guys are going to ask if this company is related to BC or Megan or KSPORT. CKS US REP assured me that they are not made from the same company. Yes they are made in Taiwan but so is HKS and TEIN
First Impression, Out of the box, Looks great. Yes just another coilover system but having true coilovers has its benefits and disadvantages. Having the springs and the shocks in one makes this more for track setup so i was expecting it to be stiffer than my JIC'S. Linear springs design are usually stiffer than progressive(kw, hks, jic)
SET on 10 all around for the dampening. 1 finger all around gap between tires and fender.
After we installed them, I took it out for a quick spin and I was very surprised. I figured them to be stiffer but they are very smooth. They remind me of kw smoothness. We have a bunch of windy roads behind our shop(KIDS DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME) so i figured i'd do a quick test. Amazing, very responsive. Only slightly more body roll than my JIC'S, front setup was great on hard braking, No nose diving. Accelaration had no SQUAT, so the rear was pretty good too.
So far, Very similar to KW ride quality and close to my JIC conrnering responsiveness.
Got my alignment the next day, 1.5 and 1.6 neg camber for the front, 1.6 on both rear with very nuetral toe settings. My G can't be set up too low because of my body kit.
I was having fun at the track the next day, My G was starting to hook up on corners nicely while the tires were starting to warm up but not having an OIL COOLER killed it for me. 120+ track temp basically gave a lot of the cars overheating problems, coolant and oil temp was off the charts
Overall, these coils were good enough for the track, great on the streets and the best part of it all, it will be cheaper than most high end coilovers. Pricing will be available soon.
They will offer custom setups according to your request, stiffer or softer spring rate, more or less gas pressure per your request and they will be able to re valve in house so you can rebuilt them at anytime(best part)
They are still on my G so I will update every so often to see how they hold up for street driving and the occational aggressive fun driving.
Attached are pictures of the coils and a few pictures from the track event. These are not the final production colors, these are only prototype of the coils. I'll have pictures of the production once they come in late SEPTEMBER.
