When you push down the emergency brake there is a small red light that says "brake" on your dash. Okay so, when I'm driving (usually quickly) it will pop on for about 6 seconds and then turn off.

Does this mean something or is it just f*cked up?

Is yours an Auto or a 6mt? If its a 6mt maybe you didnt put the brake all the way down.

That light will also come on it there is a problem with the braking system. Have your car checked by the dealer.

I've had this occur in the winter months when it's really cold out and I've left the car outside for work (ie 8 hrs). It's happened maybe 3 times to me. Usually, the 'brake' light disappears once the brakes have warmed up or car has warmed up sufficiently.

Since it's August ... and I doubt you work in the Yukon or the south pole ... you'd better take the car into the dealership to get the brakes inspected.

PS I have a 2008 6MT.

That light will come on if the brake fluid level is low. It sounds like it's starting to get to the minimum level - that's why it will turn on then off during turns or acceleration. Have the dealer check out the system to make sure there're no leaks and top it off.

Hapeened to me you need to top off you're brake fluid!!! If that dosnt wrk take to dealer

I took my G in for this same issue. Dealer said it was just low on brake fluid. He added same, and the light hasnt come back on since.

How many miles are on the car? This happened to me just before I needed new pads. Eventually it stayed on and triggered the vtc light to stay on.

Wait... I have 25k miles on it and I've been feeling like i need new pads...one time i was driving on the free way and did a big acceleration and vtc light stayed on as well. it went off when i restarted the car.

I have 13k on mine. the dealer said the brakes are fine, i was just a little low on brake fluid.

Sounds like what happened to me. I had 27k when the lights finally stayed on. I took it to the dealer thinking it would be fixed under warranty but it turned out to be the front pads. I'm at 40k now with the original rear pads.
