BC Racing Coilover Rattling Problem FINALLY FIXED

So I told you guys several weeks ago I was going to stop by BC near Orlando on my way to of from Miami and fix the rattling once and for all. Tim, Pete, and I spent a few hours on Thursday, and through a process of elimination, found what was causing the rattling. As I had suspected from day one, it was the shocks and NOT the mounts, top hats, springs, preload, etc.

Pete is in the process of sending my shocks back to engineering for analysis. I always suspected there was excess clearance in between the shock tube and the piston, causing the piston to bang against the tube wall, sending the vibration straight through the shock shaft, through the top hat, body mount, and reverberating inside the shock pocket and cabin. The reason I suspected this is because no where else on the entire suspension assembly are there signs of chaffing, metal to metal contact, excess wearing, or any other signs that usually accompany metal surfaces making direct contact.

I have already put over 1000 miles on the shocks and still as quiet as a mouse. Big thanks to Pete and Tim who supplied the parts and did the whole fix for me. You just don’t find that kind of customer service ANYWHERE guys. I really have to hand it to these guys, I'm now 100% happy with my BC Racing purchase. In addition, I notice the rear is much more responsive than it previously was.

For those of you who still have the rattling, please talk to Pete or Tim, they'll take care of you..and fast too. BC Contact info is as follows:

371 Oleander Way
Suite 1317
Casselberry, FL 32707

Phone - 321-206-6381
Fax - 800-741-1972

Email - sales@bcracing-na.com

Please post here so the rattle fix can be confirmed and they can gain the G37 communities trust again and continue to sell us quality products. It seems to be the very first few set of shocks that were manufactured that had the rattle, I haven’t heard of the rattles with any recent purchases.

Thanks guys!!

Just wanted to add, I think the BC crew is out racing this weekend and into next week. If you dont get an answer at the shop, be patient... they WILL fix the problem ASAP.

Wow... After all the rattle problems and supposed fixes, it ends up being something totally different...the dang shocks/struts... I am glad BC has finally learned how to treat their customers... I just hope they keep this way up and dont revert to their previous ways...

congrats btw...

John, the Pres @ JIC, said it was the engineering of the shocks when he rode in my car almost exactly a year ago..guess he was right

Still rattle free on my ride. Thanks BC for a killer coilover setup that doesn't break the bank.

I received a reply from Tim at BC Racing about swapping the faulty shock tubes for newer (read: fixed) ones.

I decided not to put my CC number in the response email, so hopefully they call my cell soon enough.

Amazing that this is actually happening!!! It's all so surreal...

LOL.. Yeah I thought u'd be pretty happy John. Your like me, driving for months with that rattle was just plain awful. So annoying it makes you almost not wanna drive your car. Are they asking for your old shocks back?

yeah they are. Tim called me the next day to get my CC number. He's already shipped the new shocks out and said there will be a prepaid label to ship back the old ones.

Praise Jesus!! The end of the rattles is very fvcking nigh!!... hopefully.
