G37S factory spring rates?

Hey guys, been doing some searching to find out what the Factory "S" springs rates are but not really coming up with anything. Thought I would ask here to see if I could get any info.

Anyone know?

Thanks!!

I was looking into this also when before I lowered my car on Eibachs to make sure that I wasnt going backwards on the spring rate.

I was able to find out that the Tanabes springs are better than the non-sport springs but not the Sport springs - per Tanabe.

From Eibach -
" The springs were designed off of the base model. If the sport model is lowered from the factory compared to base model then you would have to subtract the amount lowered from ours.

fronts 6388.001: 228 lbs/in up to 548 lbs/in
rears 6388.002: 371 lbs/in up to 531 lbs/in "

hope this helps

damn i would love to know this info. But based on rationalization, these aftermarket coilovers are gonna be a rough ride! I was looking for something that wont compromise the stock ride quality.

Tanabe are supposed to do keep the ride quality based on the stock spring rates.

get kw's. they tested our stock springs from the sport model and made their coils around those. Ride is beautiful. its adjustable and they are just great!

If you really want to know it measure it yourself. Compress it 1 inch in a press and measure the deflection.

what are the spring rates for the kw's? Based on pictures the rears look progressive, which probably helps with the comfort. But I cant really tell for the front, they look kinda linear.

How do you measure progressive springs?

You cant tell from the looks of a cars stance if springs are linear or progressive. At least to my knowledge. All springs used in automotive suspension applications are linear. When a spring is compressed (or in tension) so far it becomes nonlinear, its behavior becomes unpredictable and it susceptible to metalurgical failure.

Springs follow the equation F = kx, where x = the deflection or the spring, k is the spring constant and F is the force applied to the spring. This equation tells you its linear. Progressive springs use multiple springs to achieve an exponential spring rate. You'll have to measure the individual spring rates. I'd doubt if any coilovers made for the G37 have a progressive spring rate.

WTF^......do you make springs? I am not sure that I want to know that much about springs.

I dont need to make spring to know that dude. Im an engineer and for what I paid for my education if I dont know basic spring force equations I dont deserve to be an engineer. If you dont want to know that much info about springs then dont read the post.

I try to educate ppls when they ask questions and I know the answer. I give them real answers and not some biased bs because I lack the knowledge.

How about you take the ******* remark and take it somewhere else. Obviously the OP is not an engineer and/or doesnt want to remove his stock springs to compress them. Thanks for the equation though.

If you are an engineer than you should be able to figure out that I am not a "dude".

they do make progressive springs, stock springs are usually always progressive. The eibach pro-kits are progressive based as well, you can usually tell by how they are wound. Linear springs look like the ones on the megan coilovers. Progressive springs have a varying size to it and linear are just straight up. Not trying to knock your fact or anything, just saying what I have learned. I just dont understand how progressive springs are measured, since they have a range of spring rate.

I dont care if your male, female, or trans. Your one of those females who comes into a males domain and expects special treatment. What are we all supposed to bow down to you. You seem to think so by your "I'm a F'ing female, dont call me bro!" gig. The question wasn't intended for you, so stop reading this post.

Unlike you, he is capable of working on his own car and reqeusted the information.Since no one else answered I did. Hate me becaulse I have the knowledge. I care NONE!!!
