oh i forgot to mention - if it was "engine flex" why are people doing powder tests while the car is OFF, seeing powder on their hood liners?

Ok..Ok...I checked it when crouching as NeverBoneStock mentioned. I do see what he is talking about (driver's side is higher). I will call them back next week to see if they will send me a new one. I don't think this really effects the performance of the product much though.

I was one of the first to install the bar. Here's a pic from the install, as you can see it's not engine flex that is causing the scratches, it's contact from the hood liner. You can see the rest of the pics in my original thread HERE

From this picture and the ones you posted elsewhere, it appears you have the bar at the lowest setting. Is that correct? If it is at the lowest setting and if the bracket was modified to allow the bar to drop further to clear the hood, then would it hit the engine cover? Thanks.

It's at the lowest it can go without touching the engine cover. I stacked two credit cards on top on one another, then placed them in the center of the engine cover, then installed the bar on top of them. That way I was able to install the bar as low as possible without having it contact the engine cover.

Dang! I didn't think it was going to be that bad. That looks hideous! Just got my FSB yesterday and now I'm having second thoughts. From the pic above, it doesn't look like from engine movement at all.
PeterBanks: any closer pics of the scratches on the bar itself.

Thanks. I like the credit card idea...I had not thought of that. Think I will just clear mask the top of the bar and put it on and see what happens.

I took some pics last night, so excuse the quality. The bar has been on the car since August.

damn thats pretty low, dont think you can go much more than that. again thanks for all the great pics peter.

to be honest, from the looks of where its rubbing (flat part above cover) it doesnt really look like a redesign would help. there may just not be that much space between the hood and cover. so as easy as it is to jump on gt spec, im not sure they can help any...
