sounds like he has other rattles than just coming from the coilovers

did you use a large flat washer on the top so the nut wont pull through the rubber?

Hi guys, don't know if anyone else has posted/found this but I figured I would post results and maybe get a question answered.

A few weeks ago, I switched out my 20" Volks for the stockers for the "just in case" winter driving (if the beater would break down or something). So anyway, there were a few nice days I drove the G with the stockers on and with no other changes...my BC rattling went away! I drove 3 times through the same path to work that would normally drive me almost mad with rattles and I didn't hear it once. Heck, I couldn't get a rattle out of it pulling into my garage over a 1" change in pavement height which with the Volks on would even rattle.

SO, my question is why would I rattle on the Volks but not the stockers? Is it preposterous to maybe guess that the coils were designed specifically for a stock wheel and not aftermarket? Any thoughts?

If I'm resurrecting this thread from the dead in error and this has been addressed...sorry just let me know.

Interesting. I doubt it has anything to do with the wheels but maybe during the process of removing them and replacing, somehow the rattle got fixed?

I doubt it. I pulled wheels on/off several times trying to get the rattle fixed over the summer and never did it fix itself that way. I drove the car before switching the wheels (just to make sure I didn't have flat spots for sitting for a while) and had it rattle just pulling out of my garage.

Has anyone else went from after market to stock, or those stock only owners ever have the rattle problem?

Maybe it's beating a dead horse, but still bothers me.

did your volks have hubcentric rings? Factory wheels are hubcentric, aftermarket wheels you should have rings installed.

i wonder if it's just something on the car rattling from the stiffer ride?

i dunno, i have noises but haven't bothered calling in to order the rubber mounts yet. figured i'd wait and see if they actually fix peoples rattles

Yes, I believe every one got them fixed and future sets were corrected.
