you can get springs for $180 bucks. Coilover are going to cost you $1000 plus easy plus having the car corner balanced. best for the money? i think not

Im not going to slack and just get springs... if your going to do it ... do it right... If i got springs I would get performance struts to go with it.
That
vs
Nice coilovers made to work together... adjustable ride and height...

best for money IMO... i think so

EDIT: i just read my reply and someone could take it as being a smart *** ... Didn't mean it to be smart... FYI

I agree with you that coilovers are the way to go. I have had them on every car i own. The only reason i have springs on the G right now is because thats all that is aval, and when coils start coming out i will be buying those too, But my point was coilovers are not the best value. You can get a spring and strut combo for cheaper then you will a set over coilovers.

I agree 99% with you....
spring strut combo is cheaper
but it depends on the person for how much they value the ability to adjust ride and height... to me its the best value so you can pick your height and not be stuck at a reg. spring hieght...

Thats what i meant... we are both right...

well for people who cant afford full coilovers and still want to be able to adjust the height they can get ground control system and a strut like koni's. You can then adjust the height and will still pay under a grand for everything

UNV-IT46,

When the coilovers are released, I will definately purchase them. Either the Tanabe or Tein EDFC. What sort of alignment service do I need on my car after the install.

Yeah I was wondering about whether an alignment is needed after coilover install and if so, just a basic one? Also is camber/toe specs being thrown off an issue at all with coilovers? From what I gather that's only a problem you encounter with springs and OEM struts/shocks - right?

coilover's alone mean nothing to your alignment. Its how they are set up. What amount of ride height change will you do? dampening settings? The proper install for coilovers is as follows. You should have the set installed by a shop unless you completely know what you are doing. in that case you can install them yourself. After having them installed. You need to go have a 4 corner alignment done. This is not the same as a 4 wheel alignment. You need to find a shop that has experience setting coilovers. The shop will then set the ride height and dampening setting per corner. you should have camber arms installed so the camber can be adjusted. hope this helps.

Tanabe Sustec Pro FIVE w/ TEAS or equivalent is definately on my list. As far as adjustment, how do they adjust variable height and dampening systems like the Sustec? Do they have to program it and adjust for each of the 16 settings? Any guestimations on what install/corner balancing would cost with 16 different settings? Also since the camber kit isn't part of the system, how would that help, do you just have to pick the best setting that would work with the range your programming.

The electronic system has nothing to do with height. If you want to adjust the height you will need to get your car in the air take off the wheels and adjust it yourself. The electronic system only does dampening...

Awe.. to bad, that would be killer, I guess I'll have to keep saving for that Mclaren F1 to get that stuff. Still a drop with comfort or sport a button away... must have.

Sustec Pro FIVE delivers broad performance for the track to the streets. Featuring 12-way(16-way with TEAS) front & rear adjustment, FIVE allows drivers to fine tune height, dampening and rebound based on street conditions and driver preference.

The ability to actively adjust height based on speed is freaking awesome, must have.
Sorry my friend you are reading it wrong. The coilovers themselves are not electronic. The only part that is electronic is the teas system. Yes the height can be adjusted 1.5 inches. But not automatically. You must do it manually. Trust me an electronic coilover would cost so much money no one would buy it. The only height adjustable systems are magnectic systems and air systems.

Honestly it all depends on the shop. I have seen places charge as little as $100 and jackasses charges $1000 giving a long speech on why they are so great. $150 $200 is fair for a quality 4 corner balance...
