Coupe Paddle shifter install

So im having problems getting the plastic column peace off. I removed the two taps with the two bolts behide it. And the three bolts on the bottom. Tried everything. Not enough room seem like. Watched a video and it comes right off. Are the coupes different from the Sedans? Figured this was going to be easy install

You are probably hung up on the shroud lip that tucks up behind the steering wheel trim:

Make sure the steering wheel is as far forward as it can travel. Then, pop off the upper trim piece. Once the upper piece is free (just flip it up out of the way) you can start tugging at the lower piece at the back (pull down and toward the front of the car.

If need be, and if you have a plastic pry tool, you can wedge it between the steering wheel trim and the shroud and start pulling. You just need enough leverage to clear that lip.

In all honesty, making sure all the screws are out, a good solid pull or two and it should pop out.

Yah I didn’t want to break anything. Is there a part number for the correct paddle shifter column plastic cover or are they all Universal for the paddles ?

The paddles themselves should work just fine, same wiring/ connectors. The plastic shroud will likely be different. The shroud should be "universal" across the G37 line, but I can't speak as to compatibility with the Zed.

Okay i got it off. Turn steering wheel 180 degrees and ripped it off, didn’t want to budge, not going back on now. Got lucky and had the pre wires for the paddles. Installed them, nice touch. Just need the bottom plastic trim. Looking for used for no luck on ebay. Found alot of them for Non- paddles.

Keep scouring eBay.or any of those other selling sites. They do pop up from time to time and sell lightning fast. When I upgraded to the newer paddles I sold my old set/ cover and they were gone in less than 2 days.

Glad you're getting this project completed!

I swapped to a Q60 Red Sport steering wheel that has the paddles built into the wheel, not on the column.

(see here)
Those pics are of my first Q60 wheel. I now have a Red Sport wheel that is getting a new leather wrap.

It is not a plug-and-play swap. Not difficult, but not a piece of cake, either.
