G37x Coupe Trunk refuses to open
Hi all, can't seem to figure this one out.... the trunk simply refuses to open
- Checked the Valet button, not sure which position is on or off, but tried both on and off states
- Tried opening with the safety pull within the trunk - does not budge
- When pressing the trunk release, I can hear the solenoid firing, or attempting to fire
- Is there a way to manually get to the lock mechanism from the inside to pop it open?
The car had light rear-end damage that was professionally repaired many years ago under our ownership from someone texting and bumping into us. The issue only occured recently.

Try pressing down on the trunk while someone hits the release. It may by jammed up tight against the latch by something getting accidentally closed in the trunk.

Any chance you are in a location where the lock may be frozen?
You have to really pull on that release handle to get the mechanism to unlock. You will feel a solid "thud" when the latch is released. You might need a helper to pull on the handle while you lightly press down/pull up the deck lid. If that release handle doesn't work then your options get limited.
Being that your car was rear ended, it is possible the mechanism became misaligned over time or maybe it just needs a shot of lube.
