Steering wheel rubs against trim
Hi guys,
So I completed a dash replacement DIY due to cracks (Took me roughly 11 hours, i think now I can do it in 5). I think that was the worst DIY i ever had. I had to take sedating pill before going to sleep as I was 100% sure I will never be able to put that back together and now I no longer have a car
But anyways, I eventually managed to put everything together (90% of car being made out of 10mm bolts helps) but what I figured now is when I turn the steering wheel it rubs against the trim. I reassembled the trim 3 times already (i have auto-tilt+paddle shifters) and it's as smooth as it can be and i see no space for improvement there. however, it still rubs. I can loosen the nut and it no longer rubs but wheel feels wobbly then.
i'm 100% sure I didn't have this issue before removing the steering wheel. so I wonder what gives? any suggestions? i know i removed the cluster but the trim is not connected there as well as steering rack/column. is there a way to adjust the distance between steering wheel and column? if there is no scientific way maybe I can add an extra ring somewhere? I need 1-2mm tops.
any suggestions welcome.
thanks!
