Leather Seat Dye

Leather Seat Dye
Did a search on the forums with no luck here. Been in love with the peanut butter interior ever since I saw it in a G from Japan but as you know we here in the States are not as fortunate to have the honorable option. Thought I'd see if anyone had done a swap and how much it run only to hear they run in the thousands per seat. Happen to come up on this which was intriguing. Not sure if anyone has given this a thought or try. What are your thoughts on this? Looks like it came out pretty well but dont know the actual steps taken.

I did something like that years ago, but kept the original black color of the leather. I can't remember what car i did it to.
It came out great. Months later I could see a little wear on the drivers seat, so I did a fast and easy touch up and it looked new again. It never transferred any color to my clothes.

i read through that whole thread, the OP states he sold the car, and another member did five cars, he stated 2 of the 5 had problems with stuff Skinning/peeling in sections. He said it is not worth the hassle in his opinion. Pictures sure did look nice though. Not sure i would have the ***** to do it,

I honestly thought that cost quite a bit. As asked, could you give rough estimation on how much getting plainly seats done would cost in the G

Reviving an old thread instead of posting a new one. I was just looking into dying my interior to the Monaco red since I’m in love with it and couldn’t find an IPL with it, and still can’t. I have a 2012 IPL with the black interior. Has anyone dyed their interior and if so what are pros and cons? Or about how much would it be from a shop to change out the leather? Thanks.

Yeah, going red from black seats will be damn near impossible. Not worth the hassle. Plenty of companies sell leather replacements. I priced it out for my Lancer to get rid of the cloth seats and I'd have around $700 in the seat covers, and a little more if I would decide to pay someone to do it for me.

I dyed my seats a year ago with Angelus leather dye, the color is holding up after a year of daily driving. make sure before you apply dye, scuff your seats with scotch brite, after you applied the color dye you will need to apply couple layers of acrylic finisher, depending on if you want it to be glossy or simi matt finish you will want to mix some duller with the acrylic finisher.
