Got my headlights customized - ONEighty
Got myself and the G a holiday present. I sent my headlights to ONEighty and got them painted, LED'd, demon eyed, and clear lensed. Basically, I spared no expense and went all out .
The following is just the story/thought process behind my idea and how it came to be, so you can just skip this if you want pics haha. Anyways...
Originally, my plan was to swap the stock projector shroud out. Ever since seeing Tony's G with Panamera's, I've wanted to do something similar with a different shroud. I've always loved the look of halo rings behind vented shrouds, for the patterned/incomplete ring look they offer, while also completely concealing the somewhat unsightly yellow/white(unpowered) halo rings.
My goal was to use the Apollo 3.0 shrouds, as the halo pattern they offer has long been a favorite design of mine.
I sent the headlights out to ONEighty, but was struggling to visualize how the shrouds would fit. After seeing close up pictures of the Panameras in the G's, I was worried the Apollo shrouds wouldn't fill the space of the OEM projectors well enough. So I changed plans completely.
I decided to try something new, and tweak the idea of ONEighty's Iron Man style halo's a bit. I've always thought that the way ONEighty achieves this look by placing a clear diffuser/cover over their halos, and painting over that to conceal portions of the ring was absolutely brilliant. So I asked them to try and mimic the look of the Apollo shrouds in this same fashion. You could essentially say I asked for an inverse dual Iron Man pattern.
I couldn't be happier with the results. There's enough ring to give the vague look of dual orbs, yet enough blocked off to make a distinct pattern with a clean defined cutoff.
Aside from all that I took a chance to incorporate some more red into my exterior, and got eyelids in Lexus' Matador Red Mica. It's a nice dark red, that pops just enough, while remaining subtle on my otherwise dark car. My G is an Anniversary Edition, so I've always felt a need to incorporate red into my exterior theme to complement the Monaco Red interior.
Anyhow... some pictures. (Excuse my destroyed undertay, a new one is coming soon )

OMG! Those are drop-dead beauties! Way to think outside the box and make something truly sensational. I'm really excited for you, those installed pics show just how well your thoughts turned into the finished product. IMO you nailed it 100%. Kudos!

The staggered effect on the halos, the etched lenses, bringing your Monaco Red interior into the eyelid... that's brilliant. I'm predisposed to smirk at halos, but that's not what I'm feeling here. Customized with much of the typical headlight BS, and yet not at all tacky... that's an impressive feat.
Very well done, man. Great choices, quality work.
Mind sharing how much this xmas present to yourself set you back?
And why isn't the DRL on?

Thanks guys! Super stoked myself.
Set me back it did haha, but i'm satisfied with the purchase. Minus getting the headlights refinished and wrapped in protection film, and minus the ridiculous MT to NY shipping costs, it ended up in the two grand range. I had pretty much every option available done to them.
I had debated going to a different shop to do the work for less, but in the end chose ONEighty in full knowledge that it'd cost more. I don't think anybody else could have done a job quite like they did, so I'm very content with it all.
DRL? Are you talking about the OEM parking lights?
ONEighty rewired my headlights so that while in parking light mode, only the LED's will turn on. So now my 7443 bulbs function as a turn signal only.
Thanks Newt. I hate front plates too.
I actually have my front plate zip-tied into my lower grill. So I typically remove it for photoshoots, I just happened to be out of zip-ties and didn't want to bother getting pulled over for no plates on this day haha. I love having no front plate holder, no holes in my front bumper, and no painted bumper plugs though
On a side note, I may switch out my plates for some black ones MT has recently started offering. So that'll look a little more at home down there.

Well, that certainly puts things in perspective for people who were guessing the cost and were really, really off in their thinking.
Impressive committment, ETrev.

Hah yeah, I was a little taken back at first. I told them the design I wanted, but didn't really think about breaking it down item by item. Sure enough though, looking through the pricing guide that ONEighty posted here on the forums, I got essentially every service they offer for these headlights, and it all added up. So I really shouldn't have been surprised haha

Wow, that price is insane. Granted their work is top notch but 2k$? I tore apart my own lights, painted the housing black, the shrouds gunmetal, added the iron man halo, blue eyelids and demon eyes all for about 50$
It's actually not that difficult, just time consuming

I wish I had the patience and dedication to do stuff like this DIY. But I accept that I don't haha, at least never on my own car. I like taking comfort in paying someone else who guarantees their work, especially for something as sensitive as headlights.
You got any sweet pics of yours in action? I've haven't noticed any around

OP, I'm equally shocked at the cost. But you're happy, the work quality is top shelf, and the end-result is stunning. Everything is relative, and in your case it was worth it. That all shows in your comments here, and I got to respect that.
More often than not, I also prefer to pay someone else for their professional skills. But unlike your project, if I ever send my headlights to OneEighty, then odds are I won't be checking off any options except bake & paint.
