Fog light assembly cracked

I just found out my passenger side fog light is cracked. The dealership is quoting me at $348 to have it replaced. I'm not sure how much it costs to purchase the replacement myself, but I have a feeling it would be less expensive. Anybody have experience with this part?

Yep, the clips can be a pain in the *** to undo. You can find an aftermarket replacement online for $30 or so. Passenger side will be much harder to change than the drivers side too.

Why is it more difficult? Are there any tutorials on how to replace it? I'm beginning to think maybe I should just have the dealer do it.

The washer fluid reservoir is in the way. However, with patience and the right ratchet tool, this is absolutely a DIY. Run the front end up on ramps, remove the underside tray, figure it out.

That said, if you're dead set on paying someone to do the work, then at least hand them a pair of Morimoto LED fog lenses. This is an opportunity, man. Look at it that way and upgrade.

Washer tank definitely doesn't give much room to work, it is actually possible to replace it without removing the whole undertray, I was able to do mine by just unbolting that corner and pulling it down. I should've definitely gone to the Morimotos instead of the cheap eBay LED fogs I bought on impulse, which are basically flood lights that can't be adjusted down so I can't even use them anyway.

That's a good point! Could you point me to the Morimoto lenses you're speaking of. I think this could be a good move to upgrade both lenses.

The company that people on the forum have been using is called The Retrofit Source.

Brightness is excellent, and the look of them when lit is beautiful.

Is this the specific model you're referring to? https://www.theretrofitsource.com/co...to-xb-led.html

Or is it these?

I don't know. My only expertise on this matter was getting in on a group buy last year. However, it's certainly one of those two. Contact TRS and get their advice.

This was the GB thread: https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...-miss-out.html

My driverside was cracked, bought a new set from amazon. Driver side was a breeze to replace though wheel well. Passanger was harder, gained access by undoing two bolts underneath body tray and feeling for bolt that holds fog in. Luckily it wasn't tight and backed it out by hand. Replacing both took like 30-45 mins and just under $100.

That's great to know! Are there any tutorials out there on how to do it? Also, how did you jack up the car to access the lights?
