Question Custom tail lights - help on tapping power to amp wires?

Hi guys, I am really, really stupid at wiring and electric stuff. I have ordered custom tail lights from JP Customs 901 that are currently being made.

I've been told I just need to "tap the amp power" to make them work, but I am not sure how/what wire color to do this on.

I see this thread: https://www.myg37.com/forums/audio-v...breakdown.html

...but again I am super stupid at all of this so even with all that info and all those numbers, I am still confused

I might be preempting this since I don't have the lights yet but I want to be prepared.

I purchased T-Taps, a wire stripper, and some some electrical tape.

So....

  • I assume the amp power is behind the fabric trim in the trunk near the tail lights?
  • Is it only on one side of the car?
  • Does anyone know which cable JP Customs 901 is referring to?
  • Do you know what color the cable is? (2009 G37x sedan, premium package, tech package... Bose speakers)
  • Will I physically see the amp?
  • Am I supposed to tap the wire before or after the amp?
  • Is this going to break anything?
  • Will it blow up my speakers?

Thanks if anyone can help a stupid newbie like me

I will have the lights in a week or two so then I will have a better idea of what I am dealing with here...

[EDIT]

I think I found some info here:
