Front turn signal question

Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has ever made it so the amber parking light/turn signal was able to only be a turn signal and not a parking light? i just think it will look cleaner without that big orange light on all the time right next to the HID lights. Is this even possible? My thought was to possibly cut the wire that makes it on all the time but i don't want my turn signals to be hyper-flashing either. Thanks for any help at all!

i installed switch back led bulb along with a resistor. it would blow 6k white on normal operation, shifts sharp amber when turn signal is on and then goes back to 6k white when turn signal goes off.
looks neat.

Replace the stock 7443 bulb with a 7440 bulb and it will only come on when you activate the signal. Get the chromed ones if you don't want the housing to still reflect the orange from the bulb. These: https://www.amazon.com/7440-992-Chro...iglink20432-20

theres 2 pairs of metal connectors on double filament bulbs. cut off the pair for the parking light. idk which is which you gotta test it out by putting masking tape on one of them to see which gets deactivated.

I just cut the third wire to the connector that acts as the parking light. I didn't get a hyperflash either. I left at least an inch of the 3rd wire from the bulb connector in case I wanted to splice it back to the harness for OEM operation.

It does make for a much cleaner look, especially since I have custom LEDs around the projector and turn signal bezels.

I have the VLED's Triton switchback on my car. It is white when the parking light is on and then amber for the turn, get the resistor for no hyperflash. Morimoto makes a cheaper bulb that also works, which is what I had before.

Easiest route is to just replace with a 7440 bulb instead of 7443, as Epiphany said!

just put in the 7440 bulb over the weekend and it worked like a charm. Looks so much better now without that orange being constantly on, thanks again for all the input everyone

Glad to hear! Finish it off by replacing the top parking light with white or just remove the bulb completely!

I have an 09 model...will the 7440s enable me to use the turn signals as white DRLs while the parking lights are on, then change to turns only when the turn signal is activated?

The 7440 is only on/off which is why they don't work as dual purpose bulbs. You have the pre-facelift model like me and unless all the research I did led me to the wrong conclusion, our headlights are not wired for the 7443 DRL functionality (unless you're in Canada).

Thanks. I was hoping there was a way to get a signal from the (tiny) parking lights to help provide the power to make these white DRL type lights with orange turn signals as needed. I wired my old Maxima's fog lights to come on when the parks were on, so they work like DRLs if on park. Thanks for the reply!
