Hood is stuck closed

So my hood has been stuck closed for a week. When I pull the release I hear it clicking but my hood won't open. So today I pulled the fender liner off and followed the hood latch cable to the front. This is what I found. Is this supposed to be ripped off at the end? Or is that wire supposed to keep going to the passenger side hood latch lock?
Also, anyone have any suggestion on how to fix the issue?

The cable looks normal. It sounds like a stuck latch or broken cable. Our cars have TWO hood latches, one on the left and one on the right.

Get someone to pull the release and watch to see of the cable / latches moves. Do the same for the other side. The issue should be obvious.

You could also try to pull up on the hood when someone is pulling the hood release.

Happened to me too. I pulled the latch while my fiend pulled the cable on the side that kept the hood down.

Cool I'll pull the passenger side off tomorrow and check that side too. Hoping I can get away with not going to the stealership.

Did you do anything under the hood? Hope you don't have to cut the striker with a dremel like I did when my lock was stuck.

You're NEVER required to go to the dealership. This may be hard to fathom but they specialize in sales, not repairs.. If you cant figure it out, take it to a local mechanic who specializes in repairs.

Yeah..I installed my grill. I thought the line was caught under the radiator support but I don't think thats the issue here.

Haha you're right. My car hasn't seen a dealership since after I bought it. Plus my one year of free oil changes. I do most of the work myself. The only shop I go to does turbo kits and such so it's a performance shop. I wasn't sure if we would know how to fix this. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

Perfect opportunity to trade your car in and buy a boat, so you can sail the ocean blue to Antarctica!

Ahhaaa finally! The hood has opened! I pulled the front wheels off the car and manually twisted the hood latch by hand and it opened. I was so nervous when I closed it to check if the hood would open again, and it did. Not sure what the problem was here? Oh well, at least it works now. Attached some pictures because I was happy it opened but at the same time pissed because I was working on my car in my 100 degree garage.

You should have opened the garage door, the temp would have plummeted to 98°.

Actually I tried opening the garage and it went up 3 degrees in the two minutes it was open. Closed it right away.

Nice! So was the cable just loose or was something broken?

Nope nothing was loose. Nothing was broken. Opened hood manually. And now the hood latch works every time. Not sure what the issue was.

My advice would have been just sell the grill bc it was giving you bad luck and like you said to me earlier your car really must've just not wanted to have a grill ROLF

*inside joke*
