I posted this in another headlight thread, but this may be a better place. I have a 2011 G where one of the stock headlights went out. It can be turned on by rotating the dial a few times, but I'm guessing I need to bite the bullet and buy a new pair.
Is either better than the other and the bigger question what color? I want a whiter light than my stock lights. Morimoto comes in 5500k or 6500k and the DD comes in 5000k or 6000k (also have 8000k, but probably too blue). Suggestions?

No headlight modifications. It's like this on both sides. What's frustrating is it was bubbling long before I swapped bulbs, but I didn't complain to the dealership until after I had swapped them.

That's bs that's a common issue on the sedans from what I have heard and mine are like that too it sucks only one headlight tho
How did they know you swapped it? the aftermarket bulbs look nearly the same...
Honestly i'd just go to a different dealer and not tell them you swapped it....
Manufacturer name and model number are printed on bulbs.

What aftermarket bulbs are in it right now? I bet they can tell just by looking at the color output. You probably put 5k or 6k bulbs in there.
My 2011 sedan has STi-R clear lenses and painted on the inside black. They are badly bubbling on both sides.
The STi-R clear lenses protrude out further than factory lenses and during the day the sunlight hits the lenses and refracts the light into one concentrated beam that focuses on the exact spot you posted in the picture.
My headlights look horrible up close due to the swapped lenses (protrude out further than oem) and black painted housings.
Honestly i wouldn't worry about it. Yes it is a defect but who else is going to notice it without you pointing it out? Just gotta live with it
For those interested in bulb replacement for the DS2 headlight bulbs, I've purchased the D2S: OSRAM XENARC 66240 CBI from https://www.theretrofitsource.com and to say the least....I am not impressed. The claims of the slight hint of blue is accurate but the intensity on the road is not as bright as the factory bulbs. I noticed my bulbs seemed dimmer than normal and going on 8 years old I figured it was due for a change. After the positive reviews surrounding the brand, I went ahead and tried them out. Stick factory brand or close to factory specs if you after lighting the road well versus the blue color aesthetics these bulbs provide. They are still installed in my car and I do not plan to change them, just my personal opinion. Could be better.

I had Osram Headlights and fog lights on my MKVI Jetta GLI and I loved them. Its funny you say that about them not being as bright as stock; I actually just purchased the D2S Nightbreaker low beams and fogs for my G and plan to install them this weekend. Will make sure to take before and after pics to clear this up once and for all.
