Where to tap into dome lights?

Without tapping into the actual dome light and snaking it down.

I have been searching our forum a little too long on it and I cannot get a clear answer on the location of the dome light wire at the bcm. I thought it was on the driver side, but didn't see anything.

Who ever has experience or knowledge on it's location and could answer please share where it is exactly and color.

Thanks!

What are you looking to do ?

I believe the coupes and sedans run the wires for the dome through the driver side pillar. You will have to remove the plastics and there is a white plastic plug that can disconnect.

Use a volt meter and you will find the dome signal. You could also tap into the foot lights which are a lot closer to the passenger side you mentioned.

Thanks for the reply, I saw over 600 views with no reply and I'm like wth?? lol

I am installing puddle lights and would like them to fade on and off with the dome lights just when entering the car.

I happen to pop the top of the pillar off on the driver side earlier this week and noticed the 3 black wires you mentioned but I was confused and didn't do anything. I didn't think of using a multimeter. I'm also worried that if I turn on my dome light, will the puddle light come on as well? or is there a mechanism in the dome assembly that powers only the dome light when pressed and nothing tapped in?

I don't think I could tap anywhere else other than the dome light to achieve the fade effect unless I'm installing some type of module that creates it (I googled it)

The puddle lights will act like domes only one way, when you turn on your dome light, the puddle lights will not turn on. Thats if you wire into the those 3 cables you saw.

The 3 cables break down as follows
1. constant 12v - all the time (this allows you to turn on your domes when you press the switch on the dome)
2. car signal to dome 12v (this signal turns on when the doors open etc), this is the cable you are after for the puddle lights.
3. Negative ground

Isolate 2 and 3 and you will be set.

Problem still...

I tested the wires on the left and they're a no go. They have sockets that I unplugged them from yet the dome lights stayed on.

So I popped off the passenger side pillar and I see a spindle of wires that looks more of what I'm looking for.

One of these wires lead to the dome light. I'll try to figure it out this weekend.
