El Cheapo Footwell lights
I have been missing my footwell lights ever since I traded my Xterra. I added some because I got used to having them in my IS250. To add Infiniti's was a retarded amount of money so I went down to Autozone and picked up some 6" white flex LED's for $15.99. Turned out pretty nice IMO.

Seriously, good idea and a great price. What wire did you tie them into?

I plugged the power wire into the cigarette section in the fuse box and then grounded the other wire. Pretty simple and quick. Used a wire hanger to fish wire through from the passengers side. Then tapped into drivers side wires.

Are those wired to a switch?
They are too bright to be on all the time while driving at night. A bit of a distraction in my opinion.
Having a switch to turn it on and off would be nice.
In my 08 TL I wired my foot well lights to turn on when the door opens and turns off when the door closes. Much more classy that way instead of having them on every time the car is running.
I wired it to the door switch for each door. So when the drivers door opens, only the drivers side footwell comes on. When the passenger front door opens, only that footwell light will turn on. If both front doors open than both will come on. They turn off immediately when you close the door.

I have the OEM ones (don't say it...I got a deal on them) and they come on with the head lights. They're not bright but add a little 'ambience'. Plus they light up my SPORT PEDALS.

That looks like a good idea. I think if you can dim them down to 15% to the point that they add a feeling of "ambiance" to the cabin than it will be a pretty nice mod like the factory footwell option.
My TL also had factory blue ambient footwell lighting that stays on when the headlights are on. They are very dim though. You would only notice them if you had white shoes on. Otherwise they are hardly noticeable.
That's the point of ambient lighting though. It should be very subtle and not excessively bright and distracting when driving at night.

All good ideas. I will figure something out this weekend hopefully if time permits. FT and PT job, school and family doesn't leave a bunch of time. This was a spur if the moment deal. I didn't think it out like I usually do. Here are some night pics and they are way bright. I am sure i have a switch or dimmer here sonewhere from my old Xterra. Just gotta locate them.

I found this and going to order today to see if this will be my cheapest option to dim the Flex LED's.
***Ordered one that wasn't coming from China. Should have within 6 days.
