Custom Daytime LED Install!!!

My 2011 Infiniti G37X Coupe needed an update as it looked outdated without Daytime LED's... WOW, what a difference. My G37x looks like a 2015, only better than the 3 bulb corner kit that costs $700 for the kit and $500 for dealer install!

So I took the plunge and made my own kit. Looks SICK and works better. Parts cost me $50 and I have spare bulbs. :-)

Automatically turn on 100% when car is on. Dim to 70% bright when I turn parking lights, or lights on. Automatically turn off 12 seconds after car is turned off. LED module is very easy simple 5 wire install and inexpensive. Works great as well.

Color brightness match's headlights well. Very functional, very bright during day and night. LED's do not bother oncoming traffic.

I didn't like the pre-made bolt on lights you see everywhere... SO, I used Individual LED bulbs and made my own design. Many combination of 3-5 lights can be installed straight or angled into the honeycomb grill holes. I played around with several patterns before deciding on straight, 4 bulbs, that kinda match the chrome strip of the Fog lights.

I may put together a DIY kit if there is enough interest.

If you live in Iowa, I could be persuaded to do this Mod to your G37... but it won't be cheap. I spent 10 hours installing them, and building a GRADE A better than factory Harness, soddered all connections, then used heat shrink connectors, loomed everything. Routed harness stealth/safe. Looks Factory. Performs Factory.

Enjoy the pics!

To be honest I'm not a huge fan of LEDs in the middle, I would have moved them to the sides by the fogs. Also I would do 5 or 6. Good job though.

Check out Hella flex light drl LEDs.

I don't like the position of them honestly... but they do seem to be good quality and the work seems solid. If you are happy, that's all that matters though.

Also, why do you think it looks like a 2015? Do the 2015s have LEDs? To me, it just looks like a 2011 with some LEDs on it. Nothing wrong with a 2011 at all

looks great! Do you have any pictures taken while you were making it? Parts list? etc... How did you get them to dim and to turn off 12 seconds after shut off?

I agree with you... LED's in the middle was my last choice... but ultimately decided to install them there as NO permanent mods had to be done to the car so I can remove them.

Putting them by the fog lights like the 2014 Q40 50 60 kits would require drilling the housing. Access to the fog light area is limited being boxed off from the center grill area completely, and lastly, only 2 lights would fit on the inside of the fog in no sensible pattern, and 1 light outside the fog light as the fog is centered in the tapered opening. New models have the fog lights positioned toward the inside to make room for the 3 LED light kit that lists for $740 bucks!

I also contemplated drilling the proper holes and installing flush on the bumper, but the bumper points/aims outward and would flash oncoming drivers. So I temporarily and easily mounted the Individual lights in my honeycomb grill holes 3 different patters up to five lights per side and took pictures of each, and the 4 straight was the winner. See pics below showing different patterns I was testing. In the end, I took them out of the grill and waited several days before saying what the heck I'd rather have them in the center than not at all for a "REMOVABLE" mod. Now, they have grown on me and I like them.

You can't put 5 lights on each side in the honeycomb line I chose, as the passenger side would run into the tow hook cut out in the grill, otherwise it would be a 10 LED light install. :-)

I was implying LED's on my 2011 make it appear newer. Although, no major changes have been done between a G37 and Q40 or G37 Coupe and Q60. :-)
Infiniti's have been behind the industry in LED daytime lighting... and even 2014-2015 Q40-60's don't come standard with LED's like Nissan's entire fleet now does. Infiniti offers 3 LED lights outside the Fog lights as a $700 accessory. OUCH... Dealer install lists for $500 as removal of the bumper cover and inner fender are required.

Thanks! Clean, Simple, and FUNCTIONAL! Today was a drizzly day, and having a gray car tends to blend right in. These LED's are nice and bright when/if I forget to turn my lights on. :-) Love the fact that they stay on with my parking, lights, and when my fogs are on, as the controller dims the LED's 30% automatically. I had to tap a lead from my marker light to connect to the LED controller I mounted under the battery cover and outside the battery box. Plenty of room for an OEM type install and easy access to service if need be.

Yes, simple LED controller on Ebay, and Eagle eye LED's from same seller. Lights have a long post and that fits through grill holes of G perfectly. I used stainless 3/8" washers painted black behind each light to help center the light as the nut would fall into the honeycomb and mount the light crooked.
Each light has a generous 15" lead, so I was able to group them together and solder all the leads per side. I then used expensive heat shrink butt connectors to a main lead that runs to the battery.
I used industrial trailer lighting wire I buy per foot. It comes 4 wires bundled in one heavy insulated wire. It's flexible and pre loomed so to speak. I used 3 of the 4 wires inside the trailer line that color coordinated Red, Black, White with the LED controller. White is for the parking light lead to dim the LED's. Red power, Black ground...NOT at the battery. Factory service manual states NEVER ground anything at the battery as it interferes with the negative battery voltage monitor as part of the IPDM system. Intelligent Power Distribution Module. Infiniti cars vary the voltage output of the alternator to save energy. Pain in the ****.

Looking down from the top, you can see the thick wire leads from the left and right side I zip tied on the sides, outdoor duct taped to the aluminum front cradle, and actually tucked up under the grill for stealth install.

Did you try any combinations where you had two rows of lights on top of each other?

Kinda like this 6 LEDs per side:

---XXX------------------XXX---
---XXX------------------XXX---

or 8 per side:

---XXXX----------------XXXX---
---XXXX----------------XXXX---

I think an X pattern may look interesting too with 5 LEDs per side:

---X---X---------------X---X---
-----X-------------------X-----
---X---X---------------X---X---

I hear you, you don't want to drill just yet. I think where that chrome horizontal bar is next to the fog light, if you put 3 above and 3 below (6 per side) tight to the bar that would look cool.
