I would go with a name brand product like 3M, Oracle, Avery. My thing is, If you are going to do it, do it right. Now you may get lucky and that wrap might hold up and look good for a while. but do you really want to spend time taking it off if its crap? What if it leaves a residue or mark?

It's only about $12 more to get the good stuff, the investment for this project is the time it takes, don't cut corners on the quality IMO.

I'd go with 3m or Avery Dennison

I'd suggest doing whatever blnewt says, he wrote the DIY on vinyl wrapping the window trim.

Is it 3M that has the air bubble reduction technology?

3m definitely has it, and AFAIK Oracle & Avery do as well.

This mod was MUCH more substantial than I had expected.

If you're at all intrigued by the "sport" look (which IMO is a derivation of the performance Euro cars), this is pretty much mandatory.

Eventually I will redo mine, my first attempt achieved about 80% satisfaction (I tend to be detail oriented when it comes to the car), pretty confident I can get to 95% on the next try, once I have the time

Here are some before & after photos, of awful quality, that may or may not convince you of the above

I know i will probably get alot of ctap about this but what about plasti dipping the chrome trim. I am talking temporary to see if i like the look. I HAVE NEVER used plasti before and have no clue what it woukd look like. Pics on the net look fine but they are far away. How durable is it....will it just peel off in a week?...which is fine because by then i will know if i should wrap.

It will clash with the b pillar.

By the time you either remove the trim or tape it off....you could wrap it.

Plastidip is done good stuff, but it has its purpose. This is actually a good purpose imho. It's not going to peel off in a week.

I suggest 4 coats at least plus another 4 coats of their glossifier (clear glossy rubber spray). This should roughly simulate what the vinyl will look like. In fact, you may be able to delay the vinyl if it holds up.

Just be careful with your masking, and when you peel off your masking and overspray make sure it doesn't take the plastidip with it. Use a toothpick or other item asking the seam.

This^^
Vinyl is what Nissan uses for the pillars so you're essentially continuing the same material throughout the trim for a complete factory look, texture, and quality. P-dip will end up taking just as long and cost about the same but won't look, feel, or hold up nearly as well.

The choice is up to you

PD is fine for a trial, but don't think you'll be able to achieve a great finish/texture

Vinyl I used (3M 1080 is gloss black) has an OEM like finish, car looks like it came that way

I plastidip'ed the chrome window trim on my last car, and honestly, it didn't hold up anywhere near as good as the vinyl. I took the trim off, and used probably 2 cans of dip and it still ended up with little chips and just didn't look that good.

There are a couple imperfections in my vinyl, and at some point, I'll probably re-do the two upper rear window pieces, but I'd say it's 90% and you need to be right up on the car looking for imperfections to notice it.

Having done both...wrap it
