Gathered up enough nerve to take off my bumper, remove my headlights, bake 'n open, and paint the components this weekend. I followed a couple of the DIYs here (search: bumper removal, headlight removal)

It was tough to find pictures of black coupes with painted headlights! I was nervous about having a good balance of aggressive/dark, without going overboard. So I did a mix of gloss black, flat black, and gloss red for the various components.

I'm pretty pleased with the final results.

If I could do it again, I think I might skip the red and just do a mix of flat/gloss black. Def not doing it again though.

Nice work. It's a tough choice to decide to gather up your ***** n bake open the headlights huh? I'm trying to convince myself to do the same. So thank you for showing another example that it can indeed be done!

No sweat. It was pretty easy if you follow the DIY's. I'm a mech-novice, too. The most difficult part was being patient between coats, and not overspraying. Do it and share!

I just couldn't help myself.

But yes, back on topic. Kudos for cracking the headlights and going the DIY route. I like the black housing but not feeling the red shroud. But then again, I prefer the subtlety of a graphite color. If there are other red elements to tie it together like red sport calipers, that would look nice.

Too have some more flow, I'd paint the emblem on the grill that same red... Idk. Good job though.

yeah - the more i look at the red, the more 'tuner-y' it looks. kinda doesnt fit with the rest of the clean/black look i've got (dark tint, gt-r tails, dipped rear emblems). i'm gonna let it ride for a while and see how i feel when the dust settles.

It is why not just take it off until you can find one that fits?

While it probably wouldnt have been my choice to paint the lights like that i dont think they look out of place.
