Nothing wrong with this. I actually prefer it with how often I seem to butt dial my trunk.
I vaguely remember my BMW was the same way. Thinking back on it, I think it was a soft unlock because I remember being lazy and going over bumps to close it instead of getting out the car. I think most luxury cars will not pop open though.

I also have a bmw a 2012 which does the same exact trunk thing. Regardless of which method used to open it all it does is "pop" the lock open. The struts on the G are more of a soft close type of thing so it doesnt slam shut. Of course mine are utterly worn out too so the trunk bangs shut and feels like its going to bust the tailights. Just consider it a one finger auto close with speed feature. We've got the easiest and fastest closing trunks on the market!
