Wiring Daytime Running Lights

I have a 2010 G37X sport sedan. I just had the daytime running lights installed. I noticed that the lights turn on when the engine is on. The DRL turn off when the parking lights or headlights are on. My question is how do you rewire the DRL so that they can be on with the headlights on.

Thanks

Gabe

You'll have to splice into a wire/relay or something that turns on with the engine.

Usually the engine bay will have something to splice into

Does anyone have any idea how to keep the daytime running lights on when parking lights / headlights are on too.

You can buy an auto on/off switch. They are super easy to install.

Here's an example of one:

They will not shut off. They will turn on whenever the car is turned on regardless of headlights or fog lights.

DRL are supposed to turn off when the headlights are turned on. you can turn the DRL-equivalent light back on by turning on your fog lights i believe since they use a different beam.

Get a switch like this instead.

Hook up the optional headlight wire to your fogs, and that should do the trick. They should work just like the video. They'll turn off only when the fogs are on, but not when the headlights are on. Good luck.

I replied to your PM, but I reread your question...

I made a direct connection at the battery terminal, so the LEDs come on immediately when the engine is on and stay on with or without the headlights on. There's about a 5 second delay for the LEDs turning off after the engine stops.

I opted not to tie the LEDs to the fogs, so they also stay on when fogs are switched on. With just three LEDs down low on each side of the fogs, they are somewhat subtle and not overly done, so I like them on all the time.

When you hooked them directly to the battery, what did you use to convert it to just a 12v charge to not overload the LEDs? I just bought a pack of LED daytime running lights, and they only come with wires to connect it to...well, something else, but the manufacturer doesn't really specify what to connect them too actually.

I purchased the complete set here on MyG37 and wired per the directions supplied. Here's the link to the thread, just scroll down to post #99 to see pics of the set: https://www.myg37.com/forums/g37-sed...-led-copy.html (Contnue to the next page to see a pic of my final install.)

If this is the same set you have, there should be no problem wiring direct to the battery.
