Front windshield price

Has anyone had to pay to replace a front windshield on a coupe? How much was it?

Make something up and have your insurance pay for it. Most insurance plans don't charge for replacement.

Just had mine replaced like 2 months ago cuz some douche on the mass pike didn't feel like covering their bed full of stone while they were on the highway.

I continually see people say that replacing a windshield is covered without cost by insurance. My comprehensive policy states nothing of the kind. It will be covered, but I have a $250 deductible so I will likely pay for it out of pocket and not file any claim.

That's why I just want to know how much it costs.

Oh...sry. It WAS completely covered by my insurance (state farm) without a deductible. Matter of fact....my deductible wasn't even thrown into the equation.

I would check with your insurance to see if glass is covered. Might save you a headache.

I did get a receipt for it though. It said $289. And I didn't have "oem" glass installed though. Woulda been like another $250 to have oem stuff.

On another note. The guy that came to my house had to take like 3/4 of my dash molding apart to install the window. Took him about 1.5 hours to complete the install. Did a great job and I have zero issues with it so far.

$284.95 at your home.

I got the quote through Safelite AutoGlass using Baytown TX as the location.

All major glass companies will quote you online.

Many insurance companies cover windshields as a separate entity, usually with no deductible.
Mine (AAA) covers the windshield under comprehensive (mine $500 ded)

Windshield damage is considered a "No Fault" claim, and insurance companies cover with Zero out of pocket.

Depends on your carrier and which coverage you choose. The option with no glass deductible is slightly higher than the option with a glass deductible.

No, I do not have a policy that replaces glass for free. My comprehensive deductible applies which is $250. I called (which is what I should have done in the first place rather than posting this) and the glass will cost $235 + tax.

This is ofen dictated by individual states.
In South Carolina, with basic coverage, FRONT glass is free replaced, front only.
The state pay a portion, as well as the insurane company, any insurance company. The idea is that in this state, there is alot of loose stone on roads that cause this.
FYI.

Yeah, again as I mentioned my policy doesn't pay for windshields without the collision deductible.
