FWIW, I've never experienced that on any other vehicle I've owned, including my 2004 G35 Coupe. I was quite surprised when I noticed mine at about the 2 1/2 year ownership mark.

Question to all with the melting window striping: Are your windows tinted? Perhaps pre- damage to them during the tinting install and then more friction on them after install due to extra thickness of the film added to the window. Is the wear more on the inside or outside of the window? How often do you open & close the windows? More wear on the windows you open & close the most? Just curious. Also, beware the alcohol based window cleaners... dry out the rubber in that hot sun and you're looking at a shorter life of the rubber.

I have a 2010 and have noticed that the passenger side waist moldings are deteriorating and have become very tacky to the touch. the Driver's side is in excellent condition.

The car has tint (came from the dealer with it, so cant comment on installation) but the issue is only on the passenger side. Most common window configuration for me is Driver's window down and back passenger window cracked, so both sides get worked, with a bias to the drivers side.

I am thinking its got to be bad batch of parts.
Its only on one side of the car (passenger)
Car is garaged every night.
During the day I park in a lot with unassigned parking, so lots of different orientations throughout the year.
I live in NC with moderate winters and warm summers, but nothing like the NE for winters or SW for summers.
Pretty sure when I washed the car (usually clean it with Ziano) that I did both sides....

Maybe its made from the same stuff as the steering wheel, that thing has not held up at all.....

Taking it in soon for something else in the next week or so and will see what the dealer says. The estimates I am seeing on the web are between 500-800 for replacing all 4. Pretty steep for what it is, especially if they are unable to explain why.

Ill report back.

I live in southern California, mild summers, no window tinting, never been in extreme weather, hot or cold. The rubber has never been treated with anything, and I don't wash it with anything harsher than a mild solution of Dawn detergent. The same problem appeared this year on my 2010 G37. The cost to repair all four windows was $520 parts, $150 labor.

I also have the melt going on and the paint is cracking on the frame between the doors. The weather seal is failing and falling out as well.

The Infiniti Technical Bulletin mentioned earlier in this thread (ITB09-060) applied to 2007 - 2009 model years. You can google for a copy - it has photos that will probably look very familiar.

I don't know if there are any non-Infiniti replacement belt moldings available. The price for mine was $128 each for the rear and $131 each for the front. After that the labor of $37.50 for each window didn't seem so bad, but if you want to try replacing them yourself, there's a video that is probably pretty close to the same process on YouTube showing how to replace the belt molding on an Accord.

I had the same problem, but only with my front passenger molding. I found my at https://conceptzperformance.com the front right was only $89.38 compared to $131 from dealer. I read up on the manual and must remove the doors interior finish and the mirror to install the front ones. I plan on doing this over the next week or so. This is an older post any one else having these issues, especially you new folks?

80820-JK00E Front RH

If you have JK00B THRU D it should be replaced with JK00E

Also any tips for taking off the interior door finishes?

Just an update, so I got the new molding put on and it looks great. Honestly, it was pretty easy to do. If you follow the instructions from the Factory Service Manual pages. New part number looks great and no more worn and nasty sticky molding. If you have passengers riding they will pick this out when they stick their arm out the window trust me.
