Changing Turn Signal to Existing LED lights

I tried searching first but didn't come up with anything, maybe because its a little tricky to explain.

How easy would it be/has anyone changed the turn signal light to the two led rings instead of the bulb inside the ring. I feel like all it would take is tying into the led wires with the turn signal wire. So not even using the interior bulb anymore and having everything function on the led rings (e.g. brakes, normal lights, turn signal).
