Any safe way to remove the small pits & scratches on headlight covers?

Brad,
I'm going to be refinishing mine possibly this weekend. I'm going to tape off the paint areas to protect them. The plan is to wet-sand in this order:
1000 grit - to get pits and the oxidation off.
1500 grit
2000 grit
2500 grit
3000 grit
I'll follow the 3000 grit with a buffing wheel with some polishing compound and follow up with the 3M polish/protectant.
After that's all done, I am thinking of covering them in the clear bra material to protect the finish. I'll try to document the process and post a DIY for the forum.

G/L w/ the clear bra, that's not the easiest stuff to work with, ask me how I know.........
Look forward to your results and DIY.

Thank you! I'll probably have the clear bra for the headlights done professionally. I'm not that skilled to work polymer overlays and getting it to look perfect.
I'm hoping that will be the case. Some jack wagon with a knapsack conned me into fixing the haze on my headlights last year and he completely borked them up. Sprayed a clear coat over them and they've been a mess ever since. So gotta strip off all that very badly done clear and I'm hoping I'll be able to restore them to new.
I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I let some hack put his meat hooks on my car, but we live and learn I suppose...lol!
