Sup guys, I jus did my rear signals to LED and reverse LED now I decided to remove 6 coats of VHT nite shades which was a PITA and go back to blood red tails. I've been getting mixed comments upon which is better. My gf likes blacked out I like red. What do you guys think? The rear of my car is pretty much complete I jus need to order the splash guards prolly install next week. Thanks for your opinions here we go. Sorry for quality from my blackberry.
Before
im confused.
did you take off the VHT and go back to stock, or did you use some sort of translucent red paint after?
Yea I put the VHT nite shades on about a year ago and kinda got sick of em so I removed it last week. I painted it on the outside of the lens. Took about 24 of beer per light to remove spent 2 days lol 2 24s lol. But I'm happy how it came out. Patience is key to remove.
The procedure I did to remove the VHT nite shades was I sanded with 2000 down to break the clear coat I had put on. once that was done I applyed goo gone and that makes the paint sticky kinda makes it chunky immediatly after I used gasoline to remove the chunks. Also used varsol and 2000 grit sandpaper the same small piece I used earlier to kinda quicken the process using the old used piece of sandpaper. a new piece may result in cloudy lens due to rapid material removal so once I was close to red with a small shade of black I went back to gasoline rubbing the hell out of it and goo gone. Will take a long time to do but its safe and worked without reclearing my lens. Jus wear gloves when handling the varsol and gas. That's what I did to acheive these results.
I thought that maybe a light smoked setup would look good with red, but then saw your picture of your tails back to red and wow... yeah, I'd stay with stock red. It goes well with the rest of the car even though you have a carbon fiber diffuser.
