Self install interior access lighting

Has anyone installed the interior access lighting kit themselves?
It seems like it would be an easy job - depending on where they have to plug in.

Thanks,
-Tom

Are you talking about the Ambient Light kit or the Illuminated Sills? I have done both myself.

The ambient light kit.
How difficult was it?

It's pretty easy, the instructions have you take more trim off the center console area than really needed. The instructions are a little crude to sort out where to plug the connector in. Out of all the DIY's I've done (Spoiler, Sills and Ambient) this was by far the easiest. I really like the effect it adds. You need to get the following type drill.

took me about an hour, and that was being careful because it was a brand new car, pulling the panels off. I started off making the holes with an exacto knife, worked decently, but got impatient so I pulled out the drill.

My advice, change your cabin air filter if needed while you're at it, also if wanting to do interior led's you have access to the glovebox light during the install as well. Knock out 3 things with one job.

No need to use an exacto knife a drill similiar to what I posted is fine. They start a hole great in plastic. The instructions call for a specific mm sized hole but you can go slightly bigger as the head around the LED has a big flange. Make sure you have the LED facing the correct direction.

I second the cabin filter replacement while you are in there.

I assume you mean pictures of the final product. There isn't much to it, a single LED on the drivers and passengers side, under the dash. The light output is so low (but is the perfect amount at night) it's too hard to photograph.
