So you jus remove the handle and sand it and reinstall and it looks like that?

just discovered two decent-sized scratches on my passenger side piece after giving some friends a ride last weekend so I might be trying this, did you wet sand the trim piece or did you do it dry?

wet sanded, in one direction so it looks brushed, and then clear coated.

wet kind of clear coat did you use, just standard aerosol can? Also, did it match the rest of the interior trim exactly when you were done or do you think it would be worth doing both the driver and passenger side pieces to maintain a consistent look?

Yep, Duplicolor. I wouldn't use it on much else, but for this kind of job it was perfect.

I used 400 grit paper, and it took me forever to sand them down. Start with something a little more abrasive than 400, then finish off with the 400 for a nice brushed aluminum look. I then polished with aluminum polish, 3 coats of duplicolor clear coat, and then waxed them up and reinstalled them. They turned out great, and look much better than all the scratches that existed before.
