Any solution for trunk water leak?

I believe most 2008 and 2009 model G37 sedans have this problem: when it's raining and you open the trunk, water starts to drip from both sides of the marked points right into the trunk. I wonder if anybody has a solution for this problem.

Thanks in advance.

I think you just have to be quick. Maybe pre-place some towels on the floor?

You could possibly stick a small piece of weather stripping there to guide it to run down the trunk lid to the rear edge instead but it wont solve the real problem. What market is your G37 for? I'm presuming China by your screen name and the object in your trunk with the Asian characters. What's that on the left side of your trunk under your rear deck lid that appears to have a small rectangular door facing rearward?

Maybe he already decided to do one of these in his trunk? Seriously though, that looks factory built; what is it?

i think the china versions don't come with the Hard drive and get a cd changer instead. As for the water coming in, the weatherstripping or a piece of felt might help, or you could take your hand and swipe the water off that spot before opening when it's wet

That's the DVD unit for navigation system (on 08-09 sedan). From 2010 sedan they swiched to HDD navigation.

It's an optional 6 disk CD changer....not sure why they even offered it since it already had the ipod interface at that time, XM radio, Disk burner, etc. It really blocks the trunk opening...not exactly sure what they were thinking.

Thanks a lot for all your inputs. I will go to the dealer tomorrow and see what they can do about the leak.

i just open the trunk slowly. opening quickly doesn't work for me. i lift the trunk part way, allow the water to run down the trunklid, then open the rest of the way.

I think it may be both. Page 4-47 of the 2008 owner's manual states "The optional in-trunk CD changer cannot record music to the hard disk."

I remember looking at the 08s when they came out and thinking what an incredibly poor job they did with that and it ruled out the car for me since the trunk was small to begin with. They changed it in 09.
