To Paint the chrome lip on the trunk? Or not...

I have the very unfortunate need to have some body work done (hail, HAIL, BIG F'ING HAIL!).

So - while it is in there getting fixed, they could easily paint the chrome strip on the trunk. They would strip the chrome and paint to match.

Who has done this? (I know I have read several posts, but cannot locate now) - looking for OB or Malbec Black. Pics?

Let me know! Thanks in advance..

That would look nice in Malbec. Have you considered the OEM trunk spoiler (not the lifted wing) that would look pretty nice on your Malbec G too IMO. BTW, so sorry to hear about your hail damage, damn you haven't even broken in the car yet

Tell me about it - just 3 months old....back window shattered, and about 20-30 dents in hood/roof/trunk. Been here for 5 years...1st time it has happened to me. State Farm (and many other agencies) now have it classified as a catastrophe. I just want it fixed right - and soon. Scheduled to go in on Tues...

Is the chrome tip metal or plastic?

It may be better just Plastidip it than strip the chrome and repaint. You can remove the coating if you don't like it.

Yeah - except it was baseball size hail. Could not believe my eyes...

Last May - similar storm but I was home - took out my roof.

Got to love DFW weather!

I too like the chrome piece. It seems to fit into the designers’ intent for a classy look. If you paint over it so it blends in, it will still be there serving no purpose at all.
