2012 G37 Poor design feature *center seat armrest*

Has anyone had trouble with this? The center seat armrest opens straight back virtually making it impossible to reach in with the arm nearest to the armrest. You literally have to reach over with your other arm to gain access to whatever contents you have stored inside of the compartment. I can't imagine how someone did not see this when they designed the car. Instead of opening straight back, it should open sideways and there would be easy access to the contents inside the compartment.

I mention this in hopes that designers for Infiniti read these message boards and implement changes with their upcoming models.

I concur. It is a pain to get in that console.

The whole armrest/console is a joke, esp on the 6mt. But, it's something you get used to eventually. I rarely have reason to go into the storage area unless I need to pull out my ipass or the usb flash drive.

I know what you mean but you eventually get used to it and it's not much of a problem. I guess ease of access would also depend on your seat location, fore and aft. If you are short it would be worse.

I suppose the designers expected that drivers wouldn't want in there while they're driving.

I bought 2 SS cups from starbucks that are narrow and fit side by side prefectly in the cup holder. Somethimes you just have to figure out ways to make things work. Heck in my Z there is only one cup holder.

My z had no cupholders and yes the 6mt has a small armrest storage, but I gladly give it up for the clutch also if you ever try an a4's you wont complain as much considering you have to raise the arm rest to engage the e-brake, no matter how bad you think it is there is always worse

I removed the plastic cup holder divider piece and use that storage bin to house a pen and paper. My gas receipts also go in there. If I need to store a water bottle, the back seat arm is suitable.

How'd you remove it? I lost my key/card behind there this morning and can't figure out how to take either the divider piece or the whole cup holder so I can get to that narrow area between the cupholder and the armrest.

It was just a little plastic piece. Keep in mind, if yours is an auto, we're probably talking about two different things.
