Cracked windshield- need advice

Hey guys got a chip in my windshield this morning. Very small, bout the size of the tip of a pen. Im afraid it will get worse if i leave it. Since its so small should i buy the cracked windshield treatment kits from an auto store or get it fixed professionally by safelite? Thanks any input would be appreciated

If it's cracked, it may spread, so get it fixed.

If it's just chipped (without any cracking) it will not spread or "get worse".

Most insurance companies wave the deduction if you get a chip fixed on your windshield, versus replacing it.
I live in FL. where there is zero deduction for replacing or patching a chip in the w/s. I had Safelite come to the house and repair a small chip. They did a great job. I wouldn't take it for granted that your chip wont crack and start to spread, so if you can get it patched for nothing why not.

Just have Safelite do it. Since your in NY, your insurance company should cover it for free.

safelight repaired mine, but its still hella obvious. and the worst part, it's directly in front of my face, so I always have to see it.

once they repair it, they can't re-repair it. considered getting a new windshield but they quoted like 600 bucks or something ridiculous. i just 'deal' with it now.
