Perhaps the tsunami and flaming scratch shield cars changed the direction? Does anyone have concrete dates to compare? My ss coupe is an '11 born in '10.

I don't know but after reading some detailing forums I'm glad I don't have the Scratch Shield after reading all of the horror stories about it.

Here is just one of many: Help removing acid rain spots from new Infiniti G37x with Scratch Shield clear coat!

umm..well im the dumba who scratched off the rubber cement or whatever after debadging my car...only way i could get the badges off. from a distance you would never tell..but when you get up real close and certain angles you can see the mess. As the driver, I know, but as Joe Public they cant tell unless they came straight up to rear bumper and stared at certain angles of the light...i hope it goes away some more with time, sun, and some good clay bar and waxing..Wax on wax off

You sure? Open the hood and look all the way down towards the windshield usually on the left/center area? ...it was tough to locate at first.

Quite sure. The underhood sticker(s) is the emissions and ac info. Checked the areas behind the doors too. Don't recall seeing anything in the trunk either.

I am happy with my scratch shield 11 coupe. It has one or two chips but no swirls. By summer, I should have 11k miles max. Maybe you could convince me to sell.

Something else I noticed. The used models I looked at had glossy paint in the door panels (where the door latch mechanism is located). On mine, it's a matte finish, while the outside of the door has clear coat... Another cost cutting measure perhaps?...

Actually it was dropped in 2010 and came back in 2011 however most if not all cars manufactured after the Japanese Tsunami won't have the self healing paint due to supplier issues. Infiniti wanted to keep it hush hush until the supplier was brought back online.

Thanks. i was quiet sure they didn't want to use it anymore due to lot of problems. (when you have to repaint some panels). And this kind of paint scratch very easily even though it is supposed to cure by itself. I remenber when i taook my car from the dealer (brand new), there was more swirl than my
years old acura TL. I always wax my cars, and both TL ande G were dark paint.
