Debadging: lettering outline remaining?

Hey all, sorry to add another debadging thread, but read a bunch of posts and couldn't find anything on this issue (which is scarey!).

Have debadged before, as recently as a year ago with my fx. Had no issues. Finally picked-up my coupe today, and the first thing I did was take off the G37xS. Heat gun, dental floss, 3M adhesive remover.
Issue: the outline of each number/letter is remaining. Faint, but it's there. Not the whole letter, just the outline. It's not glue and doesn't feel risen at all. I used a little rubbing compound then some wax, and no dice, it's still there.
Any one seen or heared if this? Have a solution? Thanks in advance, and sorry if this has been on here before, I couldn't find it.

elbow grease. I used goo gone when I debadged. could slightly see the outline at first but used a little more muscle with it and it went away. I would be careful of creating swirl marks though. good luck.

if you can't get it away completely don't stress it will fade with time.

Are you using a polisher when applying the compound or elbow grease? I used a polisher and it came out perfect. Didn't even need a hit gun. Just some goo gone and dental floss.

Just compond. I have a BLK car and would let it sit in the hot sun for few hours so the car itself was hot. Found that the most of the glue would peel off it I let the car sit and get hot. Makes sense and a lot safer than using a heat gun,

I used a hair dryer, dental floss, goo gone, and some wax and it mostly went away. I had the same problem as you, but a few weeks later it just went away....

^ dont do that

There's NO way it won't come out if you claybar and then use a polish with a random orbit polisher like a porter cable (remember to wax afterwards)

good luck

Try finding someone that has a buffer and knows how to use it...should come right out with a fine polish

If you're not comfortable in doing it , don't do it at all, or at least don't try to push it if you aren't making progress. I did the same and ended up jacking up my trunk lid that I needed to get it repainted.
