Repair/Replacement of interior parts

New owner here. I'd like to fix or replace the metal-ish painted piece in the doors bc mine are pretty beat up. What's the best way to go about this? I have searched here and googled it but came up with nothing. Also the shift **** seems to made out of the same material.

The "paint" on the steering wheel has also seen better days. Any thoughts on how to fix that up?

Thanks for any input.

That would be great. I'm a day one noob, though. Not a clue about where to start. A dealer I visited before I bought said that these parts could be replaced (I guess not the steering wheel). I assume I could go get gouged by the dealership service dept. but I thought there had to be a better way. I can't find anyone online selling these parts (yet).

Are you talking about some kind of custom job I could have done?

For the door caps.... Here is an upgrade you deserve:

OEM INFINITI G37 COUPE DOOR GRIP CAPS L & R UPGRADE | eBay

When I bought my G37 the door caps were not perfect as well. I replaced the door caps with the revised version which is like 'brushed aluminum' and will match the rest of the panels in your car perfectl and is at least a bit more scratch proof that your existing ones...... I still don't know what to do about the steering wheel bezel other than try to get it replaced under warranty but the door cap is easy and inexpensive to replace and you can do it yourself under 10 minutes on both sides.... just need a butter knife to pop them out and install the new ones.... yummy butter !

Sweet! How do you like the newer version of the caps? Are they really more durable? I was trying to decide between investigating some of the vinyl wraps I have seen on here and buying the replacement caps you linked. Replacement seems like the easiest route. I think I am going to give warranty replacement at the dealership try first

Should I anticipate some resistance at the dealership bc I did not buy it there?

I have the paint coming off at the same exact spots. Im getting it replaced under warranty at the dealer (kings infiniti in brooklyn ). I didnt think they would do it, but I didnt even get an argument. Probably should have mentioned the shift **** too.

Didn't want to reply until I actually had it done....

August 8,

I had my whole interior door panel (driver side) along with the washi trims, shift ****, shift boot, shifter console / washi bezel and my passenger side washi door pull... all replaced under warranty.

I just pointed them out to my service advisor a month ago and he said they'll have to order the parts.

Now my car almost smells brand new.

^ wish my dealer was that cooperative! Is the 'new' material on the door pulls and steering wheel really more durable and repellent to scratches unlike the old pieces? If so i might order some.

Thanks

They replaced mine with exactly the same washi trim as my previous one. I know that the newer ones are a little more scratch proof (2010 - present). IDK why they didnt replace just the door trims, I would've been happy with just that.
