I wrapped mine in matte black vinyl. I did a DIY but if your not good at stuff like that it can be pretty tricky.

There's tons of threads out there on this but yes it works. I had mine done and they wrapped on top of the chrome no problems. Some people will say you should paint and some will say go cheap and easy with plastidip. It depends on what you're looking for and what cost.

i'm getting mine wrapped soon as well. chrome + paint don't go well together; i imagine that they would buff or prime it prior, but...i dunno

it's just plastic, not actual chrome, just like the grille. I would say do the vinyl wrap because it would match the door pillars better. The black pillars next to the windows are actually vinyl tape, not painted. I had one replaced.

Get it vinyl wrapped, looks great and is easily reversible.

I concur, get it vinyl wrapped. Although, most of my friends just get theirs painted. But if it's a lease, or if you grow not to like it you can easily reverse the wrap.

Also, why a "sign shop"?

Best best would be a tint shop that does more than tint, for example someone that does racing stripes or other vinyl graphic work. They would have the most balance of working with cars and working with the actual product.

The Infiniti service manual says it is stainless steel...if it is indeed stainless steel, it can be lightly sanded, primed, and painted with no problem.
