Problems with rear window tinting?
Anyone had problems with the shop doing the rear window tint? The shop I got a quote at said it might be a problem tinting behind the brake light due to the small area and curve window. He suggest he make a cut around the brake light otherwise it will cost more to take the whole panel in the back off. What did everyone do?
Also I got a quote for American film 7 windows for $200, $250 for 3m CS, and $220 for Suntek hybrid. Any suggestions?
Thanks

The installer is either inexperienced, lazy, or both. The tint on my rear window easily covers the rear brake light, and there were no problems doing so.
The response you received is a red flag - go elsewhere.

Where are you from? My friend just did his tints yesterday, they used Suntek tints, $99 for all windows. And no problems installing them on the rear window, they were hand cut; not machine...

Thanks for the response. He said he has the tool and he can try but the area is tight and no guarantees against bubbling/peeling in that area.
I am in Norcal, what type of Suntek tints was it?

My shop said no problem to tint behind (or is it in front of?) the rear brake light, didn't need to cut around or remove shelf.
Made the app't and funny thing was, both my spoiler and the OEM flat (no light) rear shelf came in. Got those installed, hooked up the spoiler brake light, and went back for the tint. So they didn't have to deal with it anyway!

You get what you pay for.... I paid $440 for my tint. (all windows except Windshield). That $40 got me.......
Formula One Pinnacle tint. All ceramic. Lifetime Warranty.
And a high end installer that knows what he's doing

The installer said I might get stopped for having the 3rd brake light covered with tint. I figured he just wanted to have any easier time installing the film. I told him I could always cut the film away, by the brake light, if I got a ticket.
I was there while he installed all the film and he had no problem with the back window. He did the trimming by hand. He trimmed the film for all the windows on the outside of the glass, then put it on to the inside. It took less then an hour for the whole job. That was over a year ago and it still looks perfect.
