Discovered a fix for yet ANOTHER interior rattle
I had the loudest most annoying rattle coming from the passenger side that was hard to pinpoint. It sounded like it was coming from the speaker or near it. It was a rattle that sounded like a screw or bolt rolling around inside the door. It was present with music playing or off and it occurred anytime the car was moving. It was very loud and thoroughly annoying.
Well I finally opened up the door and found out what it was and fixed it. The problem was with the plastic clips that attach the inner door panel to the inner metal door skin. One (at the bottom of the door just under the Bose speaker grille) was loose in the plastic holder molded into the door panel allowing it to rattle loudly with the road vibration of the car. It was a little difficult to find at first.
To fix it, I used some clear silicone. Not the ideal thing but I didn't have any foam tape and it worked very well. I put some between the discs of the clip where it slides into the holder on the door panel. I let it dry. Now it fits tightly in there and doesn't rattle. I put the door back together and test drove it on a bumpy road. Zero rattle.
If any of you have a similar rattle, check to see if this is the problem.

Nice, another common rattle for me is the plastic piece behind the door handle. It's meant to come off so it sometimes rattles like crazy. I can't stand any abnormal knock, rattle, or sound....

Thanks for the tip ... I have one coming from the back seat aera, on the drivers side that is bugging the heck out of me. I asked the wife and kids to try and pinpoint but ..... that doesn't go very well. I need to get back there while someone else is driving.

I know this is a very old post, but I'm wondering what exactly the clear silicone you mentioned would be called in a store? If you have any brand name and specific type of clear silicone in mind, please let me know! I have several rattles like the one you described in my G and it drives me crazy.

Something like this maybe?

When silicone dries, it still has some flexibility in it so allows some give or movement.

That’ll work. I think I used this or something equivalent.
