Driver's window closes, then lowers 6 inches. Why?
For some reason, about 75% of the time, the driver's side window on my car will close when I lift the button, but then it automatically lowers about 6 inches.
I tried resetting the windows with the "hold the buttons up" thing for 15 seconds, but to no avail.
When the window does this, I have to hold the button in the up position until it closes, then it will stay shut.
(Yes, I have searched the forum, but I can't find anything)
Any ideas?
Thanks -
Christopher

My coupe did that occasionally. If it happens frequently you need to get it fixed. If you hold the window closed while closing it should reset and not do it again.

Definitely the window motor. My Maxima still does the same thing because i refuse to pay 300 bucks to get the motor changed(out of warranty). I asked the service advisor at the nissan dealership about it and he said I would have to replace the motor. Common problem on Nissan/Infiniti vehicles.

same deal... i came to the conclusion that it gets caught in the lining and kinda forces its way up (try listening to it when the windows roll up). the sensors probably thinks it actually squished something so it tells the motor to lower the window.
if you dont do the quick roll up and hold the button until it reaches the top then it shouldnt come back down

Mine happened shortly after the dealer adjusted my window sure to the water leak. So I assumed it's a but more snugged at the top, so the window has more resistant to it. As a safety feature, out goes back down. When this happens, I just push the window out a bit to relieve the friction and it's fine. I rather have this problem than the water leak.

Read black betty's instructions at the end of his grounding kit installation instructions. It tells you how to reset your windows. That might do the trick. Has there been any loss of power to the car at all? When you disconnect the battery to install the grounding kit that is exactly what happens when you re hook the battery supply. Good luck!(Sorry didn't read your entire post) I am not even going to delete my post just because I deserve the shear embarasement for the retarded answer I just gave.

You should be able to do a reset but will have to remove the door panel (if it's like my Maxima was). Usually when this happens there's nothing you can do to keep the window from dropping back down without the reset, so it looks like the window re-program (holding switches up) will at least get you around the problem temporarily.
