Has anyone had their entire sedan painted yet? Possible costs for it
Lately since I highly doubt Infiniti is going to be upstanding and rectify my problem with my paint, I was curious if anyone has gotten their sedan's exterior painted only. Right now I am looking into either going with a different color of black(maybe with gold flake), Interlagos Blue Metallic from the BMW M3, or Grigio Telesto Grey from Lamborghini. I'm trying to figure out what this will cost me about.
For those that havent read the sedan forum, my paint is chipping like none other. The car is a '11 Infiniti G37x I bought back in MID NOVEMBER. It was never driven while it was snowing so none of this is from truck throwing salt. Car was also put in the driveway during winter. I have well over 20 chips in my front bumper, hood, both fenders, and now my drivers side door. Anything you see in the pics that looks like a white spec is also a chip in the paint. Here is a sampling of some of my problem:

Ofcoarse Infiniti won't cover something like that. Wear and tear of paint isn't covered under the manufactuers warranty of any car maker. Even though Infiniti paint is soft.
A really really good bodyshop will take everything apart, prep, and paint everything properly. A good paint job for an entire car can be anywhere from $6K-$8K. Maybe even higher since your wanting to change the color which requires even more work.
No matter what car maker, you will get paint chips no matter what you do. Maybe some not as much as others, but all cars get paint chips. If that was the case then people wouldn't be using clear bra protection film on their $200K Ferrari's.

Looks like you drive too close to people. By biggest chips are from people cutting me off.
I have black too. My front bumper is all kinds of pitted. I'm going to try Dr. Color Chip and then go for repaint + clear shield in a few years.

^ give 'em time to his senses. my first door ding (and only to date) on my '10 sedan the first week i bought it, threw me in an angry spiral. it was almost pathetic. new car, damaged so quickly...it'll definitely get ya.
~$8-10,000 is the price you're looking at for the redo.

On a daily driver, rock chips are inevitable. On a black car (I got a '10'g37x ob) they are goin to be really visible! In the first few months I was thinking about repaint but u repaint it and it will just get more rock chips!
I got dr colorchip and I'm a lot less stressed. I repai each rock chip when i see it. It takes about 5 mins, really simple and the result looks really good on the metal (hood and fender like the ones you posted in the pics). The chips on the front bumper I generally leave alone because it has little plastic tags where the rock hits so u have to kind of sand it down then paint to get a good result. Overall when the car is washed and waxed up it looks pretty nice. I'd rather put the coupe g's towards mods for now. If I keep the car past warranty and tt it, it won't be my dd anymore and then I'll repaint.
Get dr colorchip and learn to live with the bumper chips and I'll be happy!

I have the same heartburn with my black coupe. Going crazy over it. The quality of the infinity paint and clearcoat is not up to standard for a 40k car. My wife has a 05 buick and my 03 dodge pickup has plastic noses and 100k each and they don't suffer the same type of chipping. It's like every little piece of anything causes damage. Hate to admit it and it's frustrating but "poor quality paint job". Love the Car Hate the Paint.

Winter may be over up north but there is still probably a lot of left over sand and salt on the roads. you can save a certain amount of chips by changing your driving habits. I never follow dump trucks, p/us with big tires and no mud flaps, etc.
When I am going to pass one of these vehicles I stay back out of range until I can make a fast complete pass, instead of getting stuck behind some slow poke in the passing lane that takes too long to pass the slower vehicle in the slow lane.
My theory is to spend minimum time behind or passing certain vehicles. I realize this would be hard to do in the NE where traffic is always bumper to bumper.
I have the Graphite Shadow on a 2010 with the 3M type protective film on the front. No chips in 10,500 miles and I run well over the speed limit when I am on a trip.

i posted this in the sedan forum, I called Infiniti USA and they told me to take it to the dealership to decide if it will be covered under warranty since I threatened to use the corrosion warranty as soon as winter comes and make them replace the entire part. I bring it in on Tuesday.

What kind of paint sealer you talking about? I have used Zaino clearseal which is a "paint sealer' but mostly for aesthetic purposes, not sure it would every do anything for rockchips/scratches...

I got a black coupe... and yeah its catching some rocks.. but thats why I got black, spraying the font will cost no more than 400.. and its an easy color to repair.. and i dont think the paint is too bad, but the shape of the car is too low profile, and so the rocks end up rolling along the hood causing multiple hole...
but really who cares.. i had some plans to paint it matte black , just on the outside after a couple of years, but I might as well pick up a new coupe at that time.. im in it for a good time.. not a long time

why dont u just wrap entire car?
im going to wrap my G37x sedan next week with 3M matte white.
still waying fot it but cant wait to put it on my car.
is like 700 for a roll.will protect ur car just like the clean bar.
but i think will take me at lest a week to get it all done.
