I have an OB and 1 yr in I have bunch of chips (from before the bra) on the hood and under the side front doors. I also have some minor scratches that turned into paint peeling, and obv the normal bird poop turned acid spots.

Paint is cheap. i have 2010 FX35 black and 2010 G37s black. I put clear bra from day one. It saves paint :-)

UPDATE

They won't cover it because they said all my damage is from "environmental issues"...... that doesnt explain the crap paint.. then I asked about the corrosion warranty, they said that only applies to rust from the inside out, meaning they wont cover it if i leave it bare and let it rust. I see this car might be the last Nissan/Infiniti that I ever buy new. A 6 month old car shouldnt be chipping paint like this, my god damn civic with 110,000 miles has less chips.

their paint isn't crappy at all, its just their paint is extremely soft and if you dont pamper it and keep up with it, you will know lol

Strongly disagree, I've never had a car (and I've had plenty) that paint is just chipping off the car at a horrendous pace. I'm not driving any different, not taking different roads, not following gravel trucks down the interstate. Infiniti paint blows, or I've just gotten two in a row w/ chit paint

ive owned the g for more than i year and i can count 4 chips on the car. 2 were from rocks kicked up by trucks on the highway and i could hear the rock hit the car and i expected to see a chip. the other 2 are near the left corner of the passenger door just above the factory installed vinyl. this is the spot where the front wheels kick the gravel too. so far i am not dissapointed in infiniti paint. but i do not drive on the highway all that much. all of these were from the highway.

i wonder if one color is less brittle than the other?

I don't think Infiniti is alone in the cheap paint department.

Check out the forums for any brand and there will be threads on cheap paint. From what I can gather, it's mostly due to the water-based paints that are used on the cars.

I have had a G35 coupe (athens blue) and now an ivory pearl G-coupe, both cars saw all highway miles along with winter sand/salt. I agree their paint is easy to damage than say BMW's, my front bumper is destroyed, but I have pampered the car, extensively detailing it atleast 3-4 times a summer and no matter how much grime, tar and nastiness my paint see's, it still hold up well

Im not saying its perfect, I agree Infiniti has some work to do in their paint durability department..

I agree the paint SUCKS! I have a 2010 BO coupe, I bought the car last july and the front bumper is pitted to ****, and the hood had a few chips. The thing that bothers me the most is the fact that the paint is soooo sensative that if I just run my finger across it there will be small scratches left behind, Ive owned a 1998 black f150 pickup and a 2002 s430 benz in black and nothing compares to the sensativity of this paint, I now wax my car once or twice a week to keep small scratches from just touching the car away.
